One of the best things about staying in Spokane is how quickly you can get from city streets to wilderness trails. Within 30 minutes of Manito Bungalow, you'll find everything from easy riverside walks to challenging mountain hikes with panoramic views of the Inland Northwest.
Here are our favorite trails, organized by difficulty.
Easy Trails
Bowl and Pitcher — Riverside State Park
Perhaps the most iconic hike in the Spokane area. This 2-mile loop takes you across a dramatic suspension bridge over the Spokane River, past towering basalt rock formations, and through beautiful pine forests. It's easy enough for families but stunning enough to impress serious hikers. The geological formations here are genuinely jaw-dropping.

A peaceful, easy loop around a sedge-lined pond set among ponderosa pines. This trail is located in a winter migratory flyway, making it excellent for birdwatching. Pack a picnic — the setting is perfect for it.
Moderate Trails
Rocks of Sharon
A 3.5-mile loop that rewards you with 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. The trail is well-maintained and offers a satisfying mix of shaded forest and open vistas. It's moderate enough that most reasonably fit hikers will enjoy it, but the views at the top make it feel like a real accomplishment.

A longer moderate option at 5.9 miles with 705 feet of elevation gain. This trail offers diverse terrain and beautiful views of the Spokane Valley. It's a great half-day adventure for hikers who want something more substantial.
Challenging Trails
Antoine Peak
For hikers looking for a real workout, Antoine Peak delivers. The trail winds through forest and meadow before opening up to panoramic views of the Spokane Valley and beyond. It's the most challenging hike on this list, but the payoff is worth every step.
Mount Spokane State Park
About 30 minutes north of Spokane, Mount Spokane offers a network of trails ranging from moderate to strenuous. In summer, the summit provides views stretching into Idaho, Montana, and Canada on clear days. In winter, it becomes a popular ski area.
After the Hike
One of the best parts of hiking near Spokane is what comes after. Head back to the bungalow for a shower, then walk to Lumberbeard Brewing for a well-earned pint and their famous boneless wings. Or stroll through Manito Park for a gentler cool-down among the gardens.
