One of the best things about staying at Manito Bungalow isn't just the house — it's the neighborhood. Grand Boulevard runs right through the South Hill, and along it you'll find two of Spokane's most beloved pubs, both within easy walking distance. No driving, no parking, no worries. Just great food, great beer, and a genuine neighborhood vibe that's hard to find anywhere else.
Manito Tap House — The Legendary Gastropub
Just a 3-minute walk from the bungalow, Manito Tap House is the kind of place that ruins you for other pubs. This isn't your typical bar food — it's an organic-certified, scratch-kitchen gastropub with a craft beer program that would impress any beer city in America.
The Burger
Let's start with the star: a 6oz Gebbers Farm beef burger topped with Cambozola cheese and their signature smoked onion and bacon marmalade on a house-made bun. It's been called the best burger in Spokane, and after trying it, you'll understand why. They also offer a Kobe burger with sunny-side-up egg, onion straws, bacon, jack cheese, and sweet chili aioli for those who want to go all in.
The Beer Program
Manito Tap House takes beer seriously. They have a Certified Cicerone on staff and nine Certified Beer Servers — every employee must pass a 45-question beer test before serving. With over 50 rotating kegs, there's always something new to discover. This is craft beer culture done right.
The Vibe
The rooftop patio is a South Hill gem, especially on a warm summer evening. Inside, it's warm and welcoming — upscale enough for a date but casual enough for a Tuesday night. You'll find yourself coming back more than once during your stay.

Remedy Kitchen & Tavern — The Neighborhood Favorite
A little farther down Grand — still just a 5-minute walk — Remedy Kitchen & Tavern is the kind of restaurant you wish existed in every neighborhood. Everything is cooked in a wood-fired oven, the menu is approachable but never boring, and the atmosphere makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
The Food
The wood-fired approach gives everything a depth of flavor that sets Remedy apart. The house burger and blackened salmon sandwich are standouts. For appetizers, the beef and mushroom satays and BBQ chicken wings are crowd-pleasers. They also serve an excellent brunch on weekends — French toast, griddle cakes, acai bowls — with service starting at 9 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Drinks
Twenty-two craft beers on tap, plus a solid cocktail and wine selection. The tap list leans local, which is exactly what you want when you're in Spokane.
The Rooftop
Like Manito Tap House, Remedy has a rooftop patio that's perfect for warm evenings. Between the two pubs, Grand Boulevard might have the best rooftop patio game in all of Spokane.

A Perfect South Hill Evening
Here's what we tell our guests: take a late-afternoon walk through Manito Park, watch the sunset from the rose garden, then stroll up Grand Boulevard for dinner at one pub and drinks at the other. No car needed, no reservations required (though they don't hurt on weekends), and you're home in 5 minutes. That's the South Hill life.
