March Madness is here, and Gonzaga is in the thick of it — again.
As of March 5, 2026, ESPN's Joe Lunardi has the Bulldogs projected as a No. 3 seed in the West Region and the No. 12 team overall in his latest Bracketology update. After a brief dip to a No. 4 seed following a road loss at Saint Mary's in the WCC regular-season finale, the Zags have climbed back thanks to chaos among the teams around them.
How Gonzaga Got Here
Mark Few's squad has put together another outstanding season in what is a historic year for the program — it's Gonzaga's final season in the West Coast Conference before officially joining the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
The Bulldogs sit behind only Purdue (No. 9 overall), Nebraska (No. 10), and Iowa State (No. 11) among projected three seeds. Meanwhile, the teams nipping at their heels have been stumbling:
- Kansas dropped to a No. 4 seed after losing at Arizona State — a team Gonzaga beat by 12 back in November. The Jayhawks have lost three of their last four.
- Texas Tech and Alabama both lost on Tuesday, giving Gonzaga breathing room.
- Virginia, the final No. 4 seed, was blown out by 26 at Duke over the weekend.
What's Next
Gonzaga's next game is Monday, March 9 at 6:00 PM on ESPN+ in the WCC Tournament semifinals. They'll face the winner of Oregon State and one of No. 5 San Francisco, No. 8 Washington State, No. 9 Portland, or No. 12 Pepperdine.
A strong showing in the WCC Tournament could push the Zags up to a No. 2 seed on Selection Sunday — which would mean hosting first and second round games.
Players to Watch
Keep an eye on Tyon Grant-Foster, Jalen Warly, and Davis Fogle as the Bulldogs gear up for the tournament. Under Coach Few — now in his 27th season — this team has the experience and depth to make another deep run.
